I was born in Yorkshire in 1956. After attending the University of Manchester, I lived in Oxfordshire and Sussex for 18 years before returning to Yorkshire in 1997. I now work as a full time artist from my studio in Lothersdale in North Yorkshire surrounded by beautiful countryside, peace and tranquillity. I paint the landscape from sketches done in the field, paying close attention to colour relationships. Some of my work is created using a heightened palette where vivid colour adds a surreal quality. I usually work in oils for landscapes and still life, but also paint flowers and horses in watercolours and inks.
